And the second, that creativity yields delicious pints.

“Each of our beers is a work of art. On the inside, we proudly brew some of the most well-crafted beers with the help of our brewmaster, Ryan Morrow. On the outside, we feature limited-edition works of art by artists and musicians that change every few months. Added bonus...all labels come to life through the free Blippar mobile phone app. Simply scan the label to hear to the music, see the videos, and view artist artwork and bios.”

The brewery has built a global community of creatives partnering with hundreds of international artists composed mainly of graphic designers / illustrators, but also photographers, musicians and filmmakers. The company has received over 13,000 submissions from artists in 40 countries.

A Global Arts Gallery

Artists are featured on a rotating basis, with a new call for submissions every six months. Each new selection of artists is decided by volunteer jurors who represent different facets of the art community creating an opportunity for artists to have their work printed on bottle labels, cans, carriers and other promotional items such as beer coasters. The opportunity to submit art gives illustrators and graphic designers a boost to showcase their talents. Many artists say their participation have enabled new connections with international artists they otherwise wouldn’t, creating an opportunity where you don't need to be a popular, well-known artist to get your design on there. "We've created the world's most refreshing gallery," Bob Russell, co-founder of Collective Arts Brewing

Beer that helps artists make their mark

Since the few short years since Collective Arts Brewing first opened their doors, the owners say they never could have imagined it would have such a wide-reaching impact. It's become known as the craft beer brand that helps artists make their mark, garnering a lot of respect in both the local and global arts community.

Collective Arts Brewing pays artists a stipend for their contributions and the artists retain ownership of their work. So far the brewery has spent around $165,000 so far.

'A company that has global aspirations'

Recently, the brewery launched its U.S. operations in Vermont and began distributing its craft beer in Italy and Spain. But Hamilton Ontario remains its home base, which the owners say is significant for "a company that has global aspirations." Hamilton has been experiencing a cultural renaissance with the arts and music scenes, which parallels their business philosophy. "We really feel we're a steward for creativity, which all comes home to Hamilton." The brewery, which is located close to Hamilton's waterfront, often hosts live ticketed music events featuring bands, as well as food and beer tasting events. We highly recommened visit their website where you can view featured artists, updates to the latest news, and watch the Collective Arts Black Box Sessions. The Black Box Sessions showcase some of today’s most interesting indie and alternative artists. collectiveartsbrewing.com
